Kakamega Homeboyz will entertain a struggling Thika United side at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega as they look to return to winning ways after last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Bandari in Mombasa. Thika on the other hand have an entirely new team after signing 19 new players to replace those that left the club in June. Thika is struggling financially and that is thought to be behind the team’s poor run in the Kenyan Premier League this season.
Key players
Homeboyz have lead strikers Allan Wanga and Noah Wafula to look up to. In midfield Moses Mudavadi and Estone Esiye will be key in pushing the team. On Thika’s side, Denis Lewa who is the team captain now will have a great role to and so will James Kinyanjui another midfielder who has been a reserve player. Derrick Nzonzi a former Mathare United player will be key at the back.
Team news
Both teams have no injury or suspension concern heading into the game. Thika will testing a largely new team, they signed many players without KPL experience while Homeboyz will have their normal players. It will be an experienced team vs a young team.
Distance/pitch
Kakamega town is around 350 kilometers from Thika base. The pitch is currently in good shape because he level of rains has reduced in the last few days.
Style of play
Both teams play attacking football. Thika in particular are very quick and it’s something they will be looking to use against a Kakamega Homeboyz that is largely old.
Coach comment
“These boys will get better with more games. Yes they are inexperienced but with more games they will grow and become better players,” Thika coach John Njogu said.
